We created a TB education campaign for villagers on the edge of one of the national parks in Borneo, Indonesia as part of a greater effort by Health in Harmony to encourage villagers to save forests and in return get special healthcare credits for their villages if they preserved the environment. Ikana worked with the Indonesian staff to create a video in the native language that addressed the social needs of the local population.
Janet Tobias helped organize a workshop of the IOM Forum on Drug, Discovery, Development and Translation in collaboration with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine around ways to improve public engagement in clinical trials. The workshop covered topics including: recruiting and retaining trial participants, increasing practicing clinicians’ referrals to trials, and strengthening public understanding of clinical trials.
